Race Route

The 2013 race starts at the port of Veracruz on the south eastern coast of Mexico and winds its way over 3,000 kms of paved roads to finish in the beautiful city of Zacatacas.

Over the 7 days there will be 51 timed speed tests on roads that are closed to the public. The times over these "special stages" make up each cars aggregate finishing time with the fastest being the overall winner. (However time penalties can be added to your overall time for slowness over the untimed transit sections).

Most of the cars are highly tuned race cars, employing NASCAR technology, some capable of speeds nearing 170mph - though with engine limiters set at 145mph. These modern racers then get their original 1950s bodies squeezed back onto them.
